When we first started this business in 2002, home theaters were somewhat rare and few homes were equiped with home theaters.  Today home theaters are much more common and many people have at least visited one in a store demo, or in the home of a friend.  Home theaters are sometimes called “media rooms” since they are used for watching media other than movies, like sporting events, video games, music videos, television programs, etc.

One of the first questions people ask is how much does a home theater cost?  That is like asking how much a boat costs, or how much an airplane costs.  I have seen a very nice home theater that was done on a budget of $3,000.  I have also seen a $750,000 home theater.  The best approach is to figure out what you can afford and then work with a company that can help you make the most of your budget.  M31 Inc. can  work with a wide variety of budgets.  If you are willing to do all the work yourself, we can provide some professional consulting work to point you in the right direction.  We can specify the equipment, where to buy it, and where to install it.  At the other end of the spectrum, we can also provide a turnkey service to design and install a complete home theater or media room.  In general, the price scales up with the size of the theater.  A 3 seat theater should be less expensive than a 12 seat theater for example.
